DAY 18 - Custer, South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore
Hello again from the Happys! Today, we slept until 6:30am then we packed our stuff up and got on the road to head towards South Dakota!! For breakfast we had delicious muffins and bananas. Definitely one of our favorite breakfasts around here!
After we ate, some of us took naps until Ms. V woke us up to take in the sights of Shell Canyon as we drove through! Not long after that, we stopped at Walter’s World to grab food for our next couple of meals. Continuing towards South Dakota, we had our traveling lunch of “walking” tacos even though we were sitting! #yummy Next, we drove for a decent amount of time and saw not much of anything so most of us got some shut eye again. The big Grant De-Ton eventually woke us up with “it’s raining tacos”, “dead puppies” and “what does the fox say”. Also on our decently long drive, Luke had a bathroom emergency and had to do a stinky on the highway… you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes! Finally, we arrived at the local park to get our groove on for the upcoming competition. Each dwarf group must come up with a dance and perform it. Everyone was super indecisive about what moves but eventually everyone got the hang of it and our routines really started to come together! #happys4thewin
For dinner, we had quesadillas again… we are running out of options. #nomorewraps To end the day, we arrived at Mount Rushmore! It was cool but underwhelming. It did make for some good photoshoots and games of ninja! At Mount Rushmore, they have a really good ice cream shop where most of us tried huckleberry ice cream for the first time!! We would describe it as tasting like frozen blueberry yogurt. Tonight we are staying at the Custer YMCA, the largest free standing log cabin in the country! We are so thankful we have the opportunity to stay here. Getting ready for some cold showers before we hit the hay and get a good night’s sleep!
