Day 1- Sendoff and Opelika, AL

DAY 1: Sendoff and Opelika, AL

Hey everyone! It's the Bashfuls with our first TWB blog! We are Alina, Morgan, Bo, Chris, Mary Claire, Josie, Ingrid, Lydia, Andrew, Logan, Eva, Haylie, and Samantha.

Early this morning, we arrived at Mallard Creek. Here we said our final goodbyes to our families before loading up and heading west!!
Our first stop was the welcome center in South Carolina. After our quick stop, we had a traveling lunch of turkey and ham sandwiches with some people getting the special "shiny" cheese. We had assorted chips and cookies for dessert too!

What a great looking staff!!

Excited for our first van ride aboard Carolina Girl!!

Once arriving in Georgia, our next stop was Flying J's (the first of many) to fuel up the vans and stretch our legs.
To keep ourselves busy on the drive, we speed dated, played uno and go fish, and made bracelets.
Our final stop before reaching our campsite for the night was the good ole Walmart! Some people found the bus and vans to be cold, so they took advantage of our Walmart trip and bought blankets. At Walmart, our lovely cooks, the Happys, also bought our dinner. We had hamburgers, chips, juicy watermelon and of course, more cookies.

Arriving at our first of very many wonderful Wally World visits!

The Happys met up to plan our first dinner

Group shopping always makes for good fun!!

After a long day of travel, we arrive at our final stop for the night... Opelika, Alabama!!

Our groups finally get the chance to meet each other and prepare for their jobs for the night

We split into our teams to compete in a series of relay races; egg racing, Ginger Ale double soccer, dizzy bat, golf club waddle (Harry Potter), and balloon partner racing. Then we grabbed our flashlights and cameras and headed to the sing along where we sang "Lean on me", "Party in the USA", "Today", "Wagon Wheel", and "Sweet home Alabama".

Lining up for our first relay races!
