Day 11: Highway 1

Day 11: Highway 1

Hey guys! Sleepys here again!! Last night before making camp, we found Grant walking along the dark highway so he jumped in the van and we made our way onto Lake Cachuma.

We woke up today around 5:30am, packed up, and left at about 6:30am. We had a traveling breakfast of muffins, either blueberry or chocolate chip, and apples! We headed toward Highway 1, which is said to be the highway with the best scenic points in the whole United States. On our way to Highway 1, we had a massive sing-along in the bus, while the vans were having the time of their lives driving with the windows down! We continued along the highway up to Ragged Point where we were able to admire the breathtaking views, stretch our legs, hear the seals barking, and see the beautiful flora. We traveled as far up Highway 1 as we could but had to turn around due to the road being closed from mudslides. It’s one thing to fly above the clouds but driving above the clouds on our way down the mountain was something pretty special! The views were insane, and where we went was actually where they take a lot of Apple photos for their Mac and iPhones! Another thing we learned was that a lot of movies and music videos were shot down there due to how enchanting the views are!

After Highway 1, we made our way towards Monterey, California. We briefly stopped to do a little shopping and take some pictures. After Monterey, we headed to San Fran where we will finally get to sleep inside tonight, which I know we’re all excited for! Driving through the streets to get to the Waller Center, we looked for the Full House houses and discussed all the things we wanted to see and do tomorrow! The architecture here is out of this world and we made sure to take lots of photos, and videos of the roads/street signs.

Finally arriving at the Waller Center, Boyce parked the bus like a champ and we met Mimi who is our host for tonight and tomorrow night! Mimi was very welcoming and even gave us two photos of her dogs with prayers on the back for safe travels, how kind of her!

We are thankful for warm showers tonight, and no rain dew to get on our clothes or sleeping bags for the next two days.

AND BIG NEWS! We get to sleep in tomorrow till 7 o’clock, thank you Jesus!!!!!

We are so excited to explore San Francisco tomorrow and do all the things!!
