Day 11: Highway 1

Day 11: Highway 1

Hey guys! Sleepys here again!! Last night before making camp, we found Grant walking along the dark highway so he jumped in the van and we made our way onto Lake Cachuma.

We woke up today around 5:30am, packed up, and left at about 6:30am. We had a traveling breakfast of muffins, either blueberry or chocolate chip, and apples! We headed toward Highway 1, which is said to be the highway with the best scenic points in the whole United States. On our way to Highway 1, we had a massive sing-along in the bus, while the vans were having the time of their lives driving with the windows down! We continued along the highway up to Ragged Point where we were able to admire the breathtaking views, stretch our legs, hear the seals barking, and see the beautiful flora. We traveled as far up Highway 1 as we could but had to turn around due to the road being closed from mudslides. It’s one thing to fly above the clouds but driving above the clouds on our way down the mountain was something pretty special! The views were insane, and where we went was actually where they take a lot of Apple photos for their Mac and iPhones! Another thing we learned was that a lot of movies and music videos were shot down there due to how enchanting the views are!

After Highway 1, we made our way towards Monterey, California. We briefly stopped to do a little shopping and take some pictures. After Monterey, we headed to San Fran where we will finally get to sleep inside tonight, which I know we’re all excited for! Driving through the streets to get to the Waller Center, we looked for the Full House houses and discussed all the things we wanted to see and do tomorrow! The architecture here is out of this world and we made sure to take lots of photos, and videos of the roads/street signs.

Finally arriving at the Waller Center, Boyce parked the bus like a champ and we met Mimi who is our host for tonight and tomorrow night! Mimi was very welcoming and even gave us two photos of her dogs with prayers on the back for safe travels, how kind of her!

We are thankful for warm showers tonight, and no rain dew to get on our clothes or sleeping bags for the next two days.

AND BIG NEWS! We get to sleep in tomorrow till 7 o’clock, thank you Jesus!!!!!

We are so excited to explore San Francisco tomorrow and do all the things!!

Day 10: Hollywood and UCLA

Day 10: Hollywood and UCLA

Hey guys! Sleepys here, we finally got to sleep in today!! We woke up at 7:30am and rolled out around 8:30am.

We rolled into Hollywood about 10am where parking 3 vehicles like ours can be difficult!  V saw a Traffic Control Officer, and went down to meet her!  She asked if she could help us out with the parking situation because there is so much signage and restrictions for different times of the day where you can and cannot park. Officer Spears and V hit it off when V told her she loved her nails and her hello kitty ring! We all started laughing and having wonderful conversation. Officer Spears even walked down the street with V to tell a man to please move his truck up because we needed the space to get through. In conclusion, Officer Spears is a rockstar and was a tremendous help to us today. Officer Spears was so happy to join our group photo too!!

Our first stop of the day was the incredible Hollywood Stars Walk of Fame where we got to see stars such as Anne Hathaway, Walt Disney, Godzilla, and everyone’s favorite Shrek.   We had planned on seeing the one and only Elizabeth Foy who was in "Once Upon A Time", but alas, we were so sad. The premiere for " Teen Kraken" which has been produced by Dreamworks would be going on tonight with all the stars, producers, directors, and others that we have no idea who else might be there. The magic of tonight's premiere did not allow us to introduce our star to them, unfortunately causing us to miss out on the TWB tradition of fooling the tourists.  Stay tuned for more of Elizabeth Foy, we never know what show she will be found sharing her talents! The premier was at 6 this evening, and the Security Guards told us they would get us in a great spot if we were going to be there.  Next we went shopping shopping at La La Land, a huge souvenir shop, which was the coolest store so far! It played music and flashed lights every 10 minutes. It was like a big dance party!  We had some great finds, because everything and anything that was LA, Hollywood, or California could be found in that store. Some of us got to try cookie dough at a place near the shop too.

Next, we got the chance to drive up and see the Griffith Observatory and look out over all of LA. There, we FINALLY laid our eyes on the Hollywood sign and it was even better than the pictures.

We then drove to UCLA where we got to explore the campus, browse the Bear Wear clothing and watch a robot make smoothies!   Several people made some beautiful purchases from sweatshirts, to t-shirts, and even some basketball jerseys. It was so cool! We began to wonder if the robot would ever get the smoothie made, we expected it to be a little faster! We left around 4pm to drive to our campground right on Lake Cachuma tonight. While setting up camp, we had the most beautiful sunset !! Our dinner of grilled cheese and tomato soup was delicious and was perfect for the chilly evening.

Day 9: Disneyland

Day 9: Disneyland!

Once again, the sleepys take over todays blog in DISNEY LAND!!!

We woke up at a solid 5:30 and left around 6:30 to make it just in time for the gates to open! We all rode Indiana Jones first which was a total blast! Next, we went to Pirates of the Caribbean, and finished it out with The Haunted Mansion which was also a win win.

After all three rides we split up and enjoyed the day by watching the parade, waiting in line for the rides, riding the rides, EATING THE CHURROS AND DOLE WHIP, but most importantly just enjoying the community and experiencing the Disney magic.

Many groups ate a delightful lunch of chicken tenders and fries, but also ate around five churros an hour. Safe to say, we are in Disney Debt.

After a long day, we headed back to the bus around 8:00 and are currently heading back to the campsite to watch the stars and prepare for tomorrows adventure in….LA!!
Praying we see Patrick Dempsey, fingers crossed!

See y’all tomorrow!

Day 8: Santa Monica, California

Day 8: Santa Monica

The day you have waited for… SLEEPYS TAKE OVER THE BLOG!!
Abby, Cathryn, Evelyn, Drew, Nic, Cohen, Sarah, Billie, Delaney, Gus, Lacey, Ethan, and Olivia.

We started out the day waking up at Santa Monica at 6:00am. We were all pretty tired from sleeping on the bus, but we were also extremely ready to dive into the Pacific Ocean!

Once we realized how cold it was, we ate a wonderful breakfast of cream cheese and bagels! After breakfast, we all scattered out at the beach and worked on our tans!

After taking a good nap on the beach, we went to the pier where some of us rode the Ferris wheel, roller coaster, and ate some delicious ice cream! At around 12:30 we had lunch, played sand volleyball, spike-ball, but most importantly we all had a blast!

We packed everything up around 2:00 and got on the road around 2:30 to head for our campsite not far from DISNEYLAND! The meal tonight was a good one... hot dogs and mac n cheese!! We have a pretty early turn in tonight as we want to be rested for a full day with The Mouse!!

It was a wonderful, relaxing day and we can't wait for tomorrow!!
